The 2011 Hartley contains more than 1000 varieties of labeled flowering plants in row trials and designed beds, including All America Selections and Fleuroselect winners. Companies from across the globe provide plants for the Hartley, which is a grand showcase for their new introductions and standard varieties. Come and vote for your favorites!

Idea Garden, a project of the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners of Champaign County, showcases a broad array of plants including annuals, perennials, fruits, vegetables, and shrubs. The Idea Garden houses a children's garden, sensory garden, theme garden, vegetable garden, rose garden, small fruit garden, annual color garden, rock and conifer garden and a gazebo with seating and planted containers.

Japan House Japan House and Gardens offer a serene and peaceful atmosphere for promoting an appreciation of Japanese culture and related Asian concepts. Japan House provides an academic, cultural, and natural setting for learning about Japanese art and culture. Tranquil tea and dry (raked gravel) gardens, typical of Japanese style and designed for harmony, surround Japan House.

Pollinatarium, a museum and science center devoted to increasing awareness of the ecological importance of pollinating species to the reproductive needs of a vast diversity of flowering plants, resides in the former Bee Research Facility near the southeast corner of the Arboretum. Tours are free and available by appointment. Consult the Pollinatarium website for more information.
