The Plant Clinic at the University of Illinois was established in 1976 in order to serve as a clearinghouse for plant problems. In the last decade alone the clinic has processed over 19,000 plant samples. The clinic is now a member of the National Plant Diagnostic Network (NPDN) and has been rated as BSL-II lab, a necessity for receiving and examining suspect soybean rust samples at the University of Illinois. This season the Plant Clinic diagnosed soybean rust sentinel plot samples and served as the reporting agency into the APHIS monitoring system.
The Plant Clinic is an excellent resource for unbiased diagnostic help.
Disease, insect, nematode, and weed identification are basic services. Herbicide
injury symptoms can be evaluated on field crops. Testing for Ramorum blight,
soybean rust, ash borer, soybean aphids, rootworm ratings, and exotic weeds
is available. Visit this display and learn of some of the routine and specialty
