The Illinois Council on Food and Agricultural Research (C-FAR) is a statewide partnership organized to support stakeholder-driven, high-impact research and outreach programs for Illinois' food, agricultural, and related systems. Industry representatives, public officials, researchers, and other professionals work together via CFAR to ensure Illinois' food and agricultural industry remains strong and competitive in U.S. and world markets. C-FAR members, representing a wide range of interests, share their "in the field" experiences and expertise to identify the state's most pressing research needs to strengthen Illinois' top industry.
C-FAR research addresses issues and opportunities important to both traditional and non-traditional agriculture. From advancing crop and animal production systems to developing food safety technologies to creating new markets for Illinois' green industry and more, researchers from across the state collaborate through C-FAR to address areas important to Illinois and its citizens. C-FAR is pleased to have provided support to several research initiatives being showcased at Agronomy Day 2005.
