Program: Agro-Ecology Sustainable Agriculture Program
Since 1989, the Agroecology/Sustainable Agriculture Program (ASAP) at the University of Illinois, College of ACES has been working to, ”facilitate and promote research and education that protects Illinois’ natural and human resources, and sustain agricultural production forever.” We use a variety of methods to train Extension and other ag personnel in sustainable agriculture. Through newsletters, our website and field days we disseminate information on sustainable cropping systems and the broad range of issues related to sustainability. The principals of sustainable agriculture can help producers of any size, not only survive, but thrive. Many resources are available, including copies of our newsletter, Agro-Ecology News and Perspectives, on-farm research reports and guidebooks. In addition, we can provide you with SARE publications covering a wide variety of production and marketing topics. We invite you to also visit our web site. You can find it at: http:/ aces.illinois.edu/~asap/ . For more information and resources come see us at the “Sustaining Soil, Water and People” display in the 2004 Agronomy Day Tent.
