The Varietal Information Program for Soybeans (VIPS) is an interactive information system that reports the performance and attributes of nearly 3,000 soybean varieties. The VIPS searchable database includes four years of comprehensive results from variety trials conducted at 13 Illinois locations and coordinated by the Department of Crop Sciences at the University of Illinois.
VIPS provides farmers with unbiased performance data including yield, protein, and oil content. It also provides important disease resistance information, allowing growers to select varieties tailored for their specific growing conditions. This interactive tool also benefits farmers with regional averages for yield and protein and oil content data. Producers can search for varieties suited for their geographic area, weather, soil conditions, disease resistance needs, and so on.
The Illinois Soybean Checkoff Board provides continuing funding to update VIPS and make it available to all Illinois farmers. Visit our Website to assure your competitive edge by selecting the top soybean varieties for yield, quality, and disease resistance.
