Farmdoc (www.farmdoc.illinois.edu) is a website maintained by individuals within the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois. The goal of the website is to provide economic information to farmers in Illinois that will improve decision-making under risk.
Recent efforts within farmdoc have focused on the 2002 Farm Bill. The policy section of farmdoc includes a description of the 2002 Farm Bill, a paper comparing commodity payments under the old and new Farm Bills, and a paper outlining impacts of payment limitations under the 2002 Farm Bill.
The 2002 Farm Bill includes provisions authorizing direct and counter-cyclical payments for 2002 and 2007 crops. Farmers and landowners must make one-time decisions concerning acres and yields used in calculating these payments. Resources on farmdoc describe these decisions. A computer model compares payments under the alternatives for updating acres and yields.
