Animal agriculture is vitally important to the State of Illinois, both currently and in the future. Animal products provide high-quality nutrition for humans and a large job base for Illinois citizens. Animal production in Illinois generates over $2.5 billion in total income to producers, provides alternative enterprises and employment, and produces value-added products from grain and forages.
The Department of Animal Sciences is engaged in a number of research and outreach projects that address the benefits and problem areas surrounding animal production in the state. Several displays will depict current research being conducted in the area of swine, beef, and dairy management and the role of Extension in Illinois animal agriculture.
