The all-too-common practice of allowing pastures and forages to be "poor stepchildren" of farming operations has resulted in a continuing decline in forage production in Illinois in recent years. However, producers have found that forages can still be produced profitably through the use of advanced production practices.
Many new grass and legume varieties are available, as well as new weed and insect-control products. These practices, along with a little marketing savvy, can make forage production a viable option for producers. Visit our tent display and learn about recent advances in forage production for our region.
